Does swimming in a bikini make you a slut?

I went swimming with a group of people last week. I was wearing a tankini but there were some girls who came to the swimming pool in a bikini. Now- I didn't see the problem because a bikini is a legitimate piece of swimwear.So if a girl wears it for swimming then i thought it was ok.

Obviously if a girl started wearing just a bikini on the road, or to work, or in a school, or to someone's house, then yes that would be a bit...slutty... because in those environments, swimwear is inappropriate. But what's wrong with wearing it for swimming?

Some of my friends (some of whom were muslim) started calling them sluts and slags for swimming in a bikini. Saying that they were inviting men to rape them. But from what I remember, they were not flaunting their bikinis to anyone, they were just swimming and minding their own business at the pool.

I didn't think it was fair. What do you think?
