Fly Fishing From shore in a lake for trout?
Hey everyone,
This summer ill be doing some camping on a rather large lake for a couple of weeks and havent fished it before so i could use some advise. I have a 5w fly rod and floating line but im not sure what to look for when im fishing from the shore or what to use. I have chest waders so i can wade, but What i need to know is what type of structure i need to look for and what flies i should be using in july to try and catch some of the trout. Alright thanks

That's bug weather. 5wt. rod, floating line, it's time for Dry Flies, size 10. Grass hoppers, dry Muddlers, Parachute's any Stimulators, etc. Let em drift and twitch. Also if there are Blue Gill present, small poppers.Good fish'n, pardner.

This is perfect habitat for damsel and dragon fly nymphs. Stalcup's Damsel Nymph is a favorite. There are tons of Dragon fly nymphs out there but I like Kaufman's. A black or olive #10 Woolly Bugger are also must have flies. I'd also include a rabbit leach in my arsenal. Where I live, caddis flies are also present in lakes. An emerger and an adult pattern can also produce.
