yes, chicago made very smart draft/trade decisions! They had to make some huge financial decisions, and unforunatley had to part with bufgylin, sopel, and eager. They were able to to get a good prospect, and 2 draft picks back, along with Reasoner. This was a deal that was business only, and will help them down the road, as they will be able to keep all of their top players like Hossa, Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, Niema, Sharp, Versteeg. They had to make a decision on what players to cut loose, and that had to be the players that they felt they could use to cut the cap.

In the new NHL with the cap teams must chose who their "core" players are. Pittsburgh decided who their core was when they locked Malkin,Crosby,Staal and Fleury up. Detroit did the same with Franzen,Datsyuk,Zetterberg. Teams need to realize who there best players are that will take them far year after year.
