Lacrosse is a really great sport, but it is really physically demanding. Especially if you're playing with boys. You generally won't get hurt *too* badly if you wear all the proper equipment, but stuff does happen and sometimes even just falling wrong produces a bad injury. You will get hurt sometimes- that's a fact. It's like any contact sport, and I can honestly say that as long as you watch yourself, you should be alright. My brother has played box for 10 years competitively, and 12 altogether, and he's had maybe 2 serious injuries. One concussion, and he hurt his knee once when he was pushed to the ground. If you really want to play, I wouldn't let fear of injury get in the way. Box is definitely rougher than field, my brother plays both. But it's really fun, and I think you'd enjoy it. Try to get used equipment from somewhere, sometimes even places like Value Village have equipment, and then if you do decide to quit, you won't have spent as much money.

I hope I helped a little, my family is lacrosse crazy! Hopefully if more girls start to play, you guys can build up a real girls program. It happened here, and now we have almost as many girls as boys playing in my town alone. It's really a sport anyone can play, and I hope you do decide to play. I'm sure you'll love it!
