Viswanathan Anand !!!!!!! Why this nice guy always wins?
Cricket and chess: two sports, two cultures and at two poles in India. Mere hours before India were knocked out of the Twenty20 World Cup, bringing in its wake a veiled attack from skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the IPL and its after-effect on his team, a soft-spoken Indian, weathering all odds, was scripting his own epic in the world of chess.

Answer Question
Actually there is very less recognition to chess in India but still Indians are very good at it.
It is because there is no exposure to chess in India, V Anand stays in Spain.
But one thing, even if India beat a team like Afghanistan, their news is printed on the front page but it is not the same for all sports in India.
Congratulations to Vishwanathan Anand. May he taste more success..........
Due to great concentration.

answer: Mansi time: 2010-06-15 08:52:27Viswanathan Anand is a phenomenon and a genius at chess. Long dominated by the Russians, it was only Anand who broke the stranglehold prior to that of another great Bobby Fischer. Anand's unassuming ways are big factors in playing the highly competitive game of chess.
Viswanathan Anand, (born December 11,1969) is an Indian chess Grandmaster and the current World Chess Champion.
Anand held the FIDE World Chess Championship from 2000 to 2002, at a time when the world title was split. He became the undisputed World Champion in 2007 and defended his title against Vladimir Kramnik in 2008. With this win, he became the first player in chess history to have won the World Championship in three different formats: Knockout, Tournament, and Match. He then successfully defended his title in the World Chess Championship 2010 against Veselin Topalov, the winner of a challenger match against Gata Kamsky in February 2009. As the reigning champion, he will face the winner of the Candidates Tournament for the World Chess Championship 2012.
Anand is one of five players in history to break the 2800 mark on the FIDE rating list, and in April 2007 at the age of 37, he became the oldest person to become world number-one for the first time. He was at the top of the world rankings five out of six times, from April 2007 to July 2008, holding the number-one ranking for a total of 15 months. In October 2008, he dropped out of the world top three ranking for the first time since July 1996.
In 2008, he was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, making him the first sportsperson to receive the award in Indian history. He was also the first recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1991–92, India's highest sporting honour.
Because he has good and grounded upbringing with educational background. Due to these things, his head is firmly on his shoulder. We have cricketers like Sachin, Dravid, laxman whose work ethics are like this master. However, current crop of cricketer becomes instant star and they lose their mind on glamour, girls and money. They forget they have to do hard work to perform in the field. They lose all passion and proud to play for nation.
