1: BJJ. Whether for street or cage, for fun or for safety, for competition or for the breaking of an unfortunate fool's arm, BJJ just dominates. All the fighters (except a few stupid ones and some wrestlers who can't adjust and some people who don't like it. ) in MMA know BJJ.

#2: Krav Maga. Oh, how I wish I could take Krav Maga. Where I live I have every martial art available to me EXCEPT Krav Maga. Krav Maga is super awesome for the street, but I suppose it doesn't really have much use in the cage (I use martial arts mostly for cage). I have a friend who was a 6 year man in Krav Maga. We were jogging one time and I said I needed to stop because I had a small cramp. He continued jogging and out of nowhere he was attacked by 3 guys. There was about 50 feet between us, so I rushed over to help him. As it turns out, he had downed them all before I even reached him. Lots of millitary people use Krav Maga as well.

#3: Muay Thai. Good friend of mine takes Muay Thai and shows me a bit of it in the gym sometimes. She's just awesome. I can't believe how good her striking is in the cage. Muay Thai was very revolutionary with several moves, like flying knee, elbows, and the all-important muay thai clinch.

My brother now does Caporeia and Boxing, which adds up to some pretty good striking, but I don't like either. I don't like Caporeia because it's too dance like and don't like Boxing because it's fists only and only teaches ring techniques.

But in the end, to the question "What's your favorite martial art?" I really have to say BJJ. All you need in addition to BJJ is some basic striking (Just to last until you can take that fool down) and your good to go.
