What's the best handgun for a first time gun owner?
I really like the 38 special and revolvers in general seem to be easier for me to work with than semi-automatics. Would the 38 be a good first gun for me? Any opinions from gun experts on this?

If the revolvers feels good to you, you will shoot well with it. I would say however look into .357 magnum revolvers. You can shoot either .357mag rounds or .38spc. rounds so later on after you get some experience you can graduate to a bigger caliber without having to buy another gun.
I will also say that starting with a .22lr is the proper way to begin shooting however if this gun will be used for defensive reasons .38spc is where you should start...And don't forget to get some safety and defensive course under your belt as well....

a 38 special would be great because it can be used as a target and training gun and also serve as a great self defense gun. most people advise to start with a .22 if you have never shot a gun before but you will eventually want to upgrade anyways. If you have a chance find someone that will let you shoot theirs so you are sure you are making a good decision for you. Smith & Wesson make great 38 specials if your interested
