When you surf do you like your leash on your foot or arm?

You probably going to call ''' me stupid.'' I put it on my arm. I know it is dangerous the board could come back and smack me. Right on, in the head. For some reason I just like it on my arm. When I hold my board walk down the beach it is hard to carry.
