Whilst I agree Berbatov has not scored as many goals as SAF would have liked him to - I don't consider him ?

to be a flop as so many neutrals are suggesting.

United will try ot hurt you using 11 players, not one or two exceptionaly gifted ones - that is their strength, thats whats won the league title so many times in the past under Fergie.

Thats how we use to win the league in England in the 1970s and 1980s too btw.

I feel that his game naturaly changed at United and he would be doing more on and off the ball or doing different things which he may otherwise not have been doing while at Spurs, and thats not really a bad thing.

Transition from Spurs to United mean't he'd not really be the star of the show - as he was at Spurs, but rather become one of the 11 stars on the pitch who collectively are the STAR of the show.

at spurs he was more of a striker than an all round forward attacking player, at United hes just that right now - a forward attacking player occasionly playing as a striker.

United have never been direct and predictable whereby they rely on two strikers to bang in 20-30 goals a season to win games, they score them from all over the park from various buildup play and all kinds of ways. They can hurt you in a lot of ways and could care less about being dominated over 90 minutes provided they get the winner in the dying seconds of injury time - job done, mission accomplished they move on to the next game.

Berbatov would have been a flop if he was say, a replacement for Wayne Rooney and he didn't lift the team or have an impact - which he actualy has had.

His presence is felt by the other 10 on the pitch, and they are mystified as much as he is when it comes to finishing. He realises hes a marked man, physicaly and mentally and opponents will do their best make his game ultra extra dfificult.

yet he keeps triying week in week out, or has been since hes been there.

But maybe United fans can tell me their genuine heart felt opinion on what they expected from Berba when he arrived at Old Trafford.

do you feel slightly let down by his performances ? or just the fact hes not scored as many goals as you'd have hoped he'd score ?

verdict: not a flop, just a more mature player now.
