Why don't Americans like football?

Why don't Americans like football? It just does not make sense as the countries that invaded the real America play football and it is there national sport so surely football should be the most popular sport in the USA or at least a lot more popular than it is. Don't get me wrong I love watching American football especially the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys but I don't like how some Americans are so arrogant and say they will never support football I mean the rest of the world plays it so why can't USA and Canada. I think you should of course continue to play American football, Basketball, Baseball and Ice Hockey( By the way this is Canada's Sport! =D) but also play football as the rest of the world plays it. Anyway what do you think?

By the way I am not saying that I hate the USA and I am not trying to give out about the USA.
