answer: Dhon time: 2012-04-19 03:38:39Make sure when you take the line off the reel before you run it through the guides (the holes) that you open the bail. So open the bail, pull some line out, close the bail, and then run it through the guides. Make sure when casting to have the bail open. Not sure what else to tell you without seeing what is going on. Good luck!

If ya' read through it, I promise that you'll have all the answers to any unanswered questions you may have. Site explains the different rigs and how to cast them (yours be what is known as a' spinning rod and reel), live baits used, artificial baits (spinners, lures etc.), different species of Freshwater fish you'll probably be fishin' for, even shows proper cleanin' of them, etc., etc.. Might add it's in simple format <);-3
Fundamentals of Fishing:

This link will definitely help ie., fishin' knots that are animated for easier learning on how to tie them and what their used for:

Added: Videos (9 of em' to be exact) on setting up spinning rod/reels, maintenance of them, spooling new line etc...

Sounds like you did it right. Before you put the line through the guides make sure the line will be under the bail when its closed or the line will just keep coming out, also when you get the combos with line already spooled on it they tend to put to much line on the reel which causes the line to over run the lip on the spool and make a big mess, take off some of the line until the line is filled to 1/8 inch from the top of the lip. When you go to cast flip the bail to allow line to come out after you cast flip the bail back down.
